DSC-S85 vs C4000 Which Camera Is Better?? Does Anyone Know?

You won't hear too many owners of the DSC-S85 complaining and there are alot of them. Take a look on google and you will find many good reviews on it.
Some of its strong points include:
Excellent battery life , up to 3000 pics on one charge
Takes great macro shots
It has full manual adjustments along with automatic
It has a shoe for the F1000 flash which I highly recommend
It takes great indoor/low light pics
colors are great , pics are beautiful

I can't tell you anything about the C4000 because I have never used one.

Here are a few pics from my DSC-S85...(warning a few of them are 1.5mb or full 4.1mp resolution)

only 2 negatives. you can't put lens filters on it. and you have to use memory sticks.

Huh? Sure you can use lens filters , I have several of them.
Part two: memory sticks are as good as any other media and expect the prices to come down alot soon. I get 60 max res pics with a 128mb stick, 2 or 3 sticks should be plenty for most people.

Where did you get lens filters and how do they attach to the lens?? i could really use them cause my kids keep touching the lens. 🙁

memory sticks are more expensive than compact flash probably always will be too.

You need the Vad-S70 lens adapter ring which then fits any 52mm add on lenses, the Sony R52K comes with a plain protector piece of glass which is good for potecting your Zeiss lens in case you are in the rain , dusty conditions or whatever, it also comes with a neutral density filter which improves the contrast in super bright outdoor shots.
The Vad-S70 can be had for $16 from Sony online if you use the $20 coupon that came with your S85, you can get the VF-R52K from Dell for $20 and you can get the F1000 flash from Dell as well for under $90 if you wait for another sale.

No they are not that much more than CF and SM , I have gotten all my 128mb sticks for under $50 each.

Both are great I have a 4040 and love it but my neighbor and another friend both have S75's and love them and their pics are great. C-4000 is a brand new camera as the S85 is a lil long in the tooth heck BB had them for $399.50 clearanced a month ago. anyhow I think you picked two great cameras that will serve you well.

I read the reviews and saw the pictures both seem to take pictures well. And they both cost the same or at least where I am going to buy it from. It seems more people prefer the sony...Right???

Look into the Nikon Coolpix 4500. A great camera with numerous settings. Takes awhile to learn to use but it is great. I had used a C4040 before and before that a C3000.
