Wooo been waiting for DS emulation for a long time. I'm talking about Nintendo DS emulators for the PC. I haven't experimented much but it looks pretty solid. Running games side by side with my actual DS it runs the same speed and looks better on PC. DeSmuME seems to be the best emulator but a good margin. Like I said though I haven't tried it out too much. Anyone use DS emulators? Do pretty much all games run without trouble? Maybe DS emulation has been solid for a while...I put off trying it for a long time so DS emulators would get their shit together and run games without much trouble.

Is this subject too risque? :hmm: - If so someone can lock or delete it I suppose.

Somebody will probably complain. Unlike actual illegal things like drug usage, subjects like emulation tend to be highly frowned upon here.

I don't think people consider Emulation as bad if you own the medium where the ROM/BIOS come from. Although, some people use it for playing games that they don't feel like buying (on a console they don't feel like buying?), there are some relatively legitimate reasons to emulate. I recall playing a few Romancing SaGa games on ZSNES that were translated by fans as Squaresoft never released them in the United States (or any other English speaking territory).

Although, it might also be possible to play said modified ROMs on homebrew-enabled/hacked consoles as well.

I usually use a controller for emulation, so does that mean I'd have to use the controller then put that down and use the mouse for touch screen controls? It's the only console I don't think would work well emulation-wise.

And wouldn't this fit better in the PC section? I mean it's emulating a console, but you're using PC software to do so.

Curious to see how that will work out. I don't think it will be too much different from the handheld DS since you couldn't use controls and the stylus at the same time anyways. It's already implemented in most games that at some point you have to reposition your hand to grab the stylus and use that instead of the control pad. Which is kinda like using a controller then putting it down in your lap and using the mouse for the stylus.

I don't know, maybe it would be weird. The main advantage is having the screen size be whatever you want with an HQX3 graphics filter, no border in the middle, the two screens are seamlessly connected to one another having save states wherever you want, having a 'turbo' button for skipping things you don't need to see, and no need to recharge anything. Those are all really huge advantages from my point of view. Still going to use my DS though since I love it... <3 Nintendo.

I have not used a single DS emulator, including DeSmuME that have been able to run games at full speed without insane amounts of frameskip.

What kind of system do you have SunnyD? I haven't had any problems yet but have only played a few games.

Couldn't get my microphone working too well in the DeSmuME. Anyone get the emulator to recognize their PC microphone? It kinda worked but not very well at all.

Last machine I used one on was a Phenom II 940 with 4gb of ram and a 4890. Games like Sonic All-Stars Tennis were basically unplayable because they ran so damn slow.
