Drunk driver kills father, 3 sons

He should just straight up get the death penalty. Expedited.
Actually, while I support the death penalty I think it would be better to put him on a chain gang breaking rocks for 10 years, and then forced into military service for permanent overseas deployment.

Then again, maybe he comes from bad parents. Certainly not an excuse, but a thought on civil suit might come their way.

Demetrius Jordan, 20, of St. Petersburg, blew through the red light at the intersection, heading south on Martin Luther King in a 2001 Chevy Impala, a police report states.

Well this blows, that kid deserves a lot worse punishment than what's probably going to be given to him.

Though I did think of this when I first saw the title ...

ATOT Lynching party?
No judge, no jury, no due process.

Yay!

If there is 100% proof that a person committed a crime resulting in the death of an innocent then they don't deserve due process. The person will likely never be a useful member of society, so why not just get rid of them now?

That darn pesky constitution always getting in the way ....

Because you're only reading the story on the Internet?

Maybe the father's driving was a contributing factor? Maybe one of the kids in the back distracted him and he turned around? What if Florida considers a single drop of alcohol in a minor a DUI?

Not saying the DUI guy isn't a grade A asshole, but there is a reason for due process and not knee-jerking.

Why does it seem like the drunk always lives and everyone else dies?

How often do stories about "Drunk driver flies off road and dies" make the news let alone get posted here?

I'd have to assume they die often enough... just that it is profoundly tragic when others go with them and we hear about it far more often.

Ok, I'm not saying the first cop on the scene should have just shot him in the head, sheesh. If he was intoxicated, and ran a red light (how would the father have been at fault at all?) then there isn't much else that matters.

I always wondered this myself. It seems to be the case 90% of the time I read these things. Maybe the drunk is so blasted that the simply just flop around on impact. Also they are generally the ones hitting with the front of their car into someones side so engine takes most of the hit.

... oh hey I just got through saying in the other thread that alcohol is always a factor...
