He's the poster child of a stupid law. If someone can DUI 400+ times without harming anyone, it has to make you wonder doesn't it? First, how dangerous is it? And second, how effective is it?
Perhaps maybe the public would be better served with a law that, instead of jailing every drunk driver found, simply increased the fines and penalties of any accident or injuries caused by drunk driving? For example, I think they should make drunk driving legal, but change the penalty for an at-fault accident with injury while DUI to a minimum 10 years in prison.
Whoa, but wait... this is the US. We never pass laws that might make sense...

Uh most drunk drivers can't afford to pay fines. You want to see the damage DUI can do? Take a look at New Mexico. They have a high rate of drunk driving and the associated costs are very high.

* In June a judge in Anderson, Ind., first set bail at $10,000 for
Virldeen Redmon, 67, who had been arrested for public
intoxication and driving with a suspended license. However, he
raised the bail to $100,000 when he saw Redmon's record: He
has been arrested nearly 400 times on alcohol charges since 1947,
had his driver's license suspended 33 times between 1947 and
1976, and had his license suspended "for life" in 1977. [Boston
