Why would anyone knowingly use drugs or drink alcohol when they know it is bad for their health (not counting using drugs for medical reasons)? I've heard about the using drugs as an escape from a terrible life and understand it, but why not choose an alternative? It just doesn't make any sense to me, I've never done any drugs (besides medicine XP) and I love life to the fullest. Do drugs really enhance a persons life and make it more enjoyable?
Who says that drinking alcohol is bad for your health? In large quantities, yes it is. In small amounts, like one beer a day, it is actually *quite* beneficial.
lol... get off your pedestal. you always storm into these threads with the same nonsense.Well, if by socially acceptable you mean legal... other than that, it's still a hallucinogenic drug.

I believe that's red wine not beer. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As for hallucination, when you're drunk you are still aware what is going on. I am anyway. It's not really a "high" either...it's actually the opposite in a way (depressant). It doesn't alter your state of mind in the same way. I suppose if you want to spend 20 minutes at dictionary.com making your case, you could prove just about anything...but in common terms I don't consider booze to be a hallucinogenic drug and I don't know anyone who does either (short of the chumps who keep a webster's in their back pocket). 😉

Yes I edited cause I misread/confused it with another post, so? Edit function is there for a reason. Is your F5 key broken yet?
I never said hallucinating was seeing things that weren't there, you put those words in my mouth. But I bet if you asked most people if they hallucinated when they drink they'd say no. That's all I was saying.
Anyway, I am gonna stop here. You can even have the last word, merriam!
Yes, please!drugs and alcohol

(a) I don't know what you mean by "I always storm in with the same nonsense." I smoke pot and get drunk from time to time, it's not like I'm against it.
(b) Hallucination: Perception of visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or gustatory experiences without an external stimulus and with a compelling sense of their reality, usually resulting from a mental disorder or as a response to a drug.
Hallucination does not just mean you see funny colors or talk to plants. If it changes how you perceive things, it's a halluciongen. Pot is defined as a hallucinogenic drug as well (scroll down to the Princeton University defintion), and if you've ever smoked it, you know it doesn't make you see things that aren't there, either.
So obviously you're the one who's confused.

It seems to me you haven't smoked enough pot? I don't think you'll actually see people who aren't there or anything as drastic as people saying the patterns on the wallpaper come to life while on acid, but it supposedly hallucinogenic if you consume enough pot.
The first time I smoked pot I did it too much and I tried to play chess, everyone in the room looked like cartoons to me. It was weird. I even knew at the time that they weren't cartoons, but I couldn't help it, my brain was sort of processing my sight as cartoon. AND I lost at chess.
