What people don't realize is the whole political context of that vote. Democrats got burned voting against his Dad's successful (on the surface) foray into Iraq (Desert Storm). Some of them did not get elected because of that vote. There were a lot of Dems that voted for the Iraq war with that looming in the background. Oh my god, political expediency, they never do that.

What people tend to forget is the whole atmosphere of irrational fear & hatred perpetrated by the Bushistas in the wake of 9/11. After the invasion of Afghanistan it was successfully redirected towards the Iraqi regime. America wanted blood, anyway, so they fed that lust, whipped public sentiment into a frenzy.

Other than politicians holding truly safe seats, God help anybody who tried to stand against that.

He's saying that hindsight is always 20/20 & exaggeration such as your own is easy.

Riiiiiight, whatever you say Shillarybot.

She was for Iraq before she was against it.

She was against gay marriage before she was for it.

She was for free trade before she was against it.

Hillary ONLY has hindsight, no foresight. Definitely not someone who should have any power.

LOL, every time you open your mouth, you basically make the case against your goddess Hillary.

So now the reason she had to support the Iraq was because it was politically advantageous for her, so she didn't lose her seat. Sounds like a political whore, not a leader.

She was reluctantly for the AUMF as it was presented. Turns out it was lies all along.

She was for equal rights & civil unions before gay marriage was even thinkable to many Americans.

She was for the basic idea of the TPP before she knew the specifics.

She's also for a lot of things Dems hold near & dear like voting/ civil/ & women's rights. For SS, Medicare, Medicaid & the ACA. For the EPA, the FDA & a host of other valuable agencies. For greater assistance to families in this job creator paradise. For financial regulation & progressive taxation. For management rather than sale of public lands.

Your usual bitter attitude prevents considerations of such things entirely, I'm sure.

Just tear it down, right?

You are correct in that she has often not started on the right side of the issues. However, I'd rather have someone who is capable of taking in new facts and changing their position than someone who is unwilling to change and evolve on the issues.

Twist it anyway you want. You libertarians are all the same. You have these totally unrealistic Pollyanna ideas about how things should be, but never how they have ever been.

It wasn't politically advantageous to her at all. She wasn't up for re-election until 2006.

Given the Bushistas control of information & having whipped up public support passage of the measure was a foregone conclusion.

Here's a tally of the votes-

Who among those voting in favor at the time have since admitted to being mistaken?

Beyond that, what segment of the electorate still refuses to admit that we were badly deceived?

I think 100% of people would agree to the consensus that the CIA was full of shit and making stuff up. They never gave ANY proof for any of their statements. The entier justification for war was completely fantasy and politics.

All politicians who voted for the Iraq war were between 1 and 3 of these things.
Incompetent
Gullible
Evil.

Most people are embarrassed about being gullible or incompetent, and usually they can sweep the evil under the rug.

You're a liar and shill.

You're blind to how your shitty attitude shapes your mental processes. You're eager to hang that negativity on most everything. You apparently find some perverse pleasure in that. It's not like you're interested in reasoning your way out of something you didn't reason your way into, either.

You can find verification for what I offered here-

http://www.ontheissues.org/Hillary_Clinton.htm

here-

https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/

and from a variety of sources with a quick google of "Hillary Clinton on the issues".

None of which has much of anything to do with the topic at hand.

The drug war has deep racist underpinnings. That's really pretty obvious, particularly when we go back to the dawn of cannabis prohibition. Harry Anslinger mounted a huge campaign based on just that which resulted in federal prohibition & lifelong sinecure in federal law enforcement-

Most marijuana smokers are Negroes, Hispanics, jazz musicians, and entertainers. Their satanic music is driven by marijuana, and marijuana smoking by white women makes them want to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and others. It is a drug that causes insanity, criminality, and death -- the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.

That was in 1937 in an openly racist America. More of his beauties here-

That bullshit was amplified through every cop shop in America for decades. Nixon leaned on it in his own way as exemplified by Ehrlichman's remarks.

and amplified throughout the radio, movies, tv, etc. The message was perpetuated and perpetuated until it became 'fact'
