Drug test at possible employer - just tell them I've smoked pot before?

So glad that's not a thing here, I think it's ridiculous and unconstitutional. Who cares if you do weed on your own time, as long as you're not showing up high is all that should matter. Do they do alcohol tests too? Why is it ok to drink but not have weed?

The test's can detect alcohol but unless you've been drinking before/during work it won't be detected.

If they had a random test that showed any intoxicant AT THE TIME one is at work then I'd have no problem with it, ther fact the testing is picking up THC metabolites days or even weeks after use is a frigging joke.

Nevermind weeks ... when I wanted to get a CDL (Commercial drivers license) years back I had to quit smoking to pass the drug test. Snagged a bunch of test-strips from Amazon and went cold-turkey. Took over 120 days to pee clean and my bet is a follicle-test would take significantly longer.

This is a huge problem with DUI testing for smokers too. 99% of the actual "high" is gone within an hour or two but you can test positive for weeks after light consumption and as mentioned literally months if heavy/daily.

Dangerous stuff, after smoking cannabis, marijuana or pot like you used to do, must pass a long time to be clean. If you don't want to lose your job, give up smoking pod.

What's dangerous about it exactly? Probably less harmful than drinking alcohol all things considered.

Takes about 30 days to be completely out of your system and that's for a heavy user.

The problem is that drugs can be injested via osmosis.....so you need to be careful!!
You need to take all drugs out of your house!
Osmosis is a bitch!!

Unfortunately I know from personal experience that it can take a LOT longer than 30 days! 😕

To be fair back then I was completely saturated!

Otherwise I completely agree, in terms of harm to society overall its not even in the same league as alcohol. For the individual it depends on method of consumption... smoking is unhealthy no matter how you slice it but say edibles for example not so much.

Somewhat harmful or not however, weed needs to be made legal in all 50 states.

The problem is people don't understand that. The number of folks I see puffing a J while driving is rather disturbing.

I've never understood the attraction of smoking weed when whatever you'll be doing requires you to fight the effects it has.

Video-games, movies, munchies, napping and the like are the only things on my agenda when I choose to indulge.

I never understood the thinking that goes like this....
I need to work to pay my bills and live! But my need to partake of MJ is so over powering that I am going to risk losing my job......hmmmm

Fortunately this is becoming much less of an issue these days especially if you have a state-issued medical card. When asked "can you pass a drug test?" I answer honestly ... at worst IME you'll be thanked for your honesty and told that it will be a problem.

And provided it has no impact on job-performance or safety what business is it of your boss's what you do in your free time?

I agree. Alcohol has killed more and can have a greater negative effect on your health than pot. But (excessive) alcohol consumption is celebrated in this country.

Nobody is saying that, because WE all agree that it is nobody`s business!
But your employer has a business to tun and it is truly their call!

This is especially true in Connecticut where there are few in the way of actual legal protections related to having a legit med-card unfortunately.

So far however I've yet to have a drug-test related issue at any job I've worked or applied for aside from Amazon. (and that particular rejection was a blessing in disguise)
