If you wanna quit bad enough you wont need rehab.

So not true.

Are you psychologically or physically addicted? In one scenario, you should seek counseling, else, you need to find a treatment center.

Ummm, SO true. My opinion anyways.

Even with the strongest will, physical addictions can be overpowering.

although most people wont suggest it.... before going to rehab try to ease yourself out of it, if its coke, u could probably just cold turkey it and be as uncomfortable as hell for a few days... if its brown try to ease yourself off of it, if its tweak.... go to rehab... ive had a lot of friends go to rehab, and a lot who got themselves off, all in all, the ones who got themselves off... seemed better off in the end, but some people just cant do it

Find help, but PLEASE be careful with NA (or AA for that matter).
I have so many friends that went to AA and/or NA and just replaced their drug addiction with another addiction (cigarettes, religion, sex).

weed? coke?

just stop it dude
change friends (that helps a lot)

"Just stop it dude" ??? WTF he has an addiction problem. I can see you have NEVER been addicted to something in your lifetime. When someone is an addict they cannot just "stop it dude". It's nearly impossible to stop just like that.

Actually after using Cocain for just over two years and burning through 2K in one weekend I was able to quit cold turkey.

Often we feel that there is no way that we can stop one our own and yet as the user or abuser I KNOW that you CAN NOT quit UNLESS YOU AS THE USER make that choice and follow through. You may need support BUT attempting to quit would be the first step. As it was put "STOP USING DRUGS" This means rid your self of any drugs in your home if it ain't there you can't use it.

essentially, NA is based on the fear of "stop using or die" and, in a lot of ways, is modelled after a religion. while it is somewhat suspect to replace one addiction with another. cigarettes, coffee and "the rooms" are a somewhat more pleasing option to most people than heroin. very specific, yes...people who are truly addicts that would need the support of a group like NA rather than a detox clinic are probably the sort of people who need to be dependant on something in their lives. in that sense, the rooms are amazingly helpful.

i wish you the best of luck.

It was good and Bad 😉

It was kind of scary to go to the bank and find I had NO MONEY two days after payday BUT hunger will motivate you in ways never know.

I Cannot regret the actions as I learned a few VALUABLE LEASONS.

1. Your friends are the one who stick around after you are broke.
2. That down is hard down.

I decided on tuesday I NEVER wanted to feel that low again. I was basically blasted for three days and came down hard on monday. My party freinds left me on monday morning, and realizing that I could not be the score for at least two weeks didn't bother to even call.

I haven't even seen cocaine since 1995, and I went from totally whacked out with no sleep for 2 days to cold turkey quit.

When I did get paid I was asked if I wanted to fund another party and I said no. I had no support or ulitmatum from my family whoo was unaware of my drug usage, I made a choice and while it was tough After going without for 2 weeks dure to lack of funds I literally had to convince myself it was not worth it. I would not wish that on anyone but for me it was the best way.

I had to attend AA meetings in the navy due to the fact I was classified as an "alcoholic" I to this day do not believe I am. My wife told mne to go 6 months without booze and I did. I will still have the occasional drink BUT The every weekend drunk is a thing of my past. I can honestly say I have been drunk exactly 3 times in the past 2 years😉

It is possible to change on your own IF YOU want to. You will never be able to quit regardless of the treatment you recieve if you have no reason to quit.

preach on!

good for you, man. thats awesome that you turned things around for yourself.
i think NA/AA is a pretty good group for people that need that sort of thing. its a fine line and its very hard to suggest (especially to them) that you need help but not their brand of it. i think NA/AA works great especially when you first enter recovery but im not sure if everyone needs to abstain for life. obviously, serious narcotics like heroin and coke shouldnt (in my opinion) be dabbled in if you've had a problem but having a heroin addiction, to me, does not necessitate cutting alcohol completely out of ones life.
i have a friend now who is struggling with the idea of being in NA but wanting to, eventually, be able to drink socially.

i think you pretty much hit it right on with your story.
be well

Not true.
No treatment program will help you until you make up your mind to stop. NA can help, treatment can set goals and structure to the recovery process, but until you make the decision, you would be wasting everyone's time.
I quit cold turkey, but that was me. Arriving at the decision to quit, that is the thing. Till you can look yourself in the mirror and realize that it is not getting better, won't get better, and say to yourself, "I am finished"!!!, you are wasting time, breath, whatever.

What you need to do is to present yourself to your nearest hospital emergency room, there you will be assesed and refered for inpatient treatment.Good luck to you.
