The media is just mad that a 'normal person' became a respected journalist... so now they're trying to make him look like a news whore. And he doesn't care because he knows he is a news whore.

Everybody wins!!! (except China)

Calm down. Let's all take a deep breath.

If the market is so shaky that a single person can destroy confidence in it, maybe it deserves to go down.

it is just a overdue correction

drudge doesn't control the markets anymore than the bush/cheney weather machine controls the markets

The only single person that controls the financial markets is Alan Greenspan. He said the markets could drop, and they did!

I'm sorry, but like I said, I just couldn't stand not hitting it due to your case of the Clap and all....

Disinfect and maybe we'll try again.

"But despite the inflammatory Drudge headline? which, in all fairness, linked to an Associated Press story with that same title... "

His far-fetched story loses all hopes of entertaining me right there.

Your post would have been 10x as funny (reaching a 7/10) if you had said "cold sores" instead of the clap :p

Personally, I do not care. The stock market is much like going to a casino. The value of a stock is not based on its actual value (it is in the VERY long term). *Everyone* knows we will have a recession, it is the natural order of things. Every stupid piece of news generally has a disproportionate effect on prices.

If you *know* we are going to enter a recession, why don't you short the markets and become a millionaire?

It is more a timing thing. The stock market will go up, but only in the long term. In the short term there are ups and downs. Nobody can predict exactly when the downturn will happen. Sure, the downturn in the housing market is an indicator, but that does not predict. Greenspan said that one was coming, but did not predict exactly when.
