The two lower side roofs tilt straight up, allowing cleaning underneath. The front & back open up to 32" wide. The floor inside is linoleum to facilitate easier cleaning.

Why does a chicken coop have two doors?

Because if it had four doors it would be a chicken sedan!

Updated again, almost done! The roof is done (it was dark after I got the last of the roofing on). Pretty much all the wood is on, except a door underneath to let them into the yard. Gotta do the linoleum, chicken wire, and cut the opening in the floor. And, I've been putting off the last 4 pieces at the ends of the lower roofs. And clean. It'll get painted (stain) in a few weeks - once it warms up & the wood has dried a bit.

I can't wait for this project to be done.
Crap, and I have to build the feeder, so I can add feed from outside. A 50-75 pound hopper would be nice.

And that's that. Put the finishing touches on it this past weekend - 8 nesting boxes, boxed around the opening in the floor to prevent sawdust from falling through, got the chicken wire around the base & put the base door on.

And, ran around the neighborhood with a fishing net in each hand, rounding up most of the chickens.

This weekend = building another coop for the pheasants.

Did you make sure to leave a place for the fox to hunt? :p

FYI

From experience; take the manure, mix with top soil and let set/composet for a year.
After that turn compost into the garden.

The year wait prevents burning the crops.

BUT, can you USE 8 or 9 eggs per day?

Fresh farm eggs sell pretty easily. I have tons of people who want me to bring eggs in to work & will happily pay me for the eggs. Occasionally, I bring in eggs & just give them away - I'm not a very savvy businessman. :) Eventually, I'll just build a stand and put it by the road in front of the barn with an honesty box. Pick up a dozen eggs & leave a couple dollars.
