more than german cars or a volvo?

About in line with Volvo, which is generally more than your german cars. There's one thing I don't like about Saab... who pays 50k for a 4 cylinder luxury car? Saab's envirofriendly love the earth, state of independance crap is just a little out of hand.

It has to do with TRADITION. The trademark of SAAB is 4 cyl turbo charged sedans. They were pioneers when they introduced the SAAB 99 Turbo back in '77.

If BMW can turbocharge their cars, then Saab can make some N\A 6 cylinders. My fear would be that they'd use a GM 6 cylinder.

They used to make a 6 that just used the low pressure turbo. The problem is they don't use it any more. The 2000 wagon that we have is the v6 model and we haven't had any problems with it. Nice and peppy also.

I just gave you the reason. SAAB has always favored a turbo charged I4 over a NA I6/V6, it is their filosophy.
The only reason they sold the 9-3 with a V6 was just the question you asked. SAAB 'needed' a 6 cyl for the luxury market in the US just because people here think bigger is better.
They already have a GM based V6 in their cars. At least they used to have it. The turbo I4 was still a better engine. The V6 made the car unbalanced and front-heavy.

I didn't know they made a low pressure turbo 6
I do know they made a low pressure turbo I4.

Saabs are nice, but command a premium for maintenence.

unless of course u buy the Sabbaru!

premium interior materials with reliable japanese engines!

Nothing premium about a Subaru's interior :p

hey! subaru interiors arent terrible. id say jetta level these days

but i was refering to the sabbaru (9-2 i believe). it has premium nice interior materials.

Jettas are easily the class leaders in terms of interior materials for their class. No way the subaru is that good, I've seen one and it looks cheap.
