I'm an elitist hypocrite because I think things should make financial sense? 😕 See, I thought it was because I am an accountant that things should make financial sense...damn, I must have missed the day they covered elitist hypocrites in my accounting classes.

No...the elitest hypocrite thing comes in when you constantly point out something negative in every thread that even remotely involves a vehicle that consumes more petrol then you deem as acceptable. After doing this, you have no problem flying to Europe on vacation or eating sushi that required a bunch of fossil fuel consumption just to get it to your table. I'm sure you live in a hut with no air conditioning or heat. Oh yeah...and you probably never eat any vegetables that were grown with fertilizers and pesticides created using crude oil.

It really gets annoying that you constantly troll this board with nothing but negative comments in every thread that does not involve biking to work, hybrids, or a Lotus. If you weren't so annoying about it, some of us might actually agree with you from time to time.

You obviously don't know me at all and I'm not negative in most threads. Only the ones with angry members making generalizations about me for no reason at all.

Yeah, I've been to Europe once in my 41 years of life. I bet that's going to leave a huge carbon footprint on the planet.

Oh, and where have I once, in this thread, brought up the environment? 😕

Oh, and just in time for $5/gallon gas prices. The Camaro should be an even bigger failure...whenever it manages to hit showroom floors.

lol , gas here for me is $3.49

I filled up the other day, it was $4.25/gallon for premium. It was $4.89/gallon a couple weeks ago.

There are a number of employees where I work who carpool every day now. Some of them have been doing it for a few months.

I like the car and plan on purchasing one next year. Fuel costs don't bother me. The Gasoline market is just making up for almost 30 years of inflation. It should have been gradually rising the entire time but a steady supply artificially kept the prices low at the pumps. Ross Perot said in the early 1990s that gas should be set $2.50 a gallon to prevent a future economic crisis for people people of modest means. I think it's safe to say a person who is buying a new Challenger at full retail costs has been wise enough with their money that fuel costs don't effect them.

I'm sure there will be more nonsense from the peanut gallery to come.

I saw one earlier this week. Looks nice, but the 6.1L Hemi would probably cost as much as the car in just a year of driving.

I'm surprised they let him leave the lot on it. They are selling for well over sticker here, and they're all sold before they even get to the lot.

Slight update: I'm no longer an '05 GTO owner... Sold the car last week 🙂

Going to miss that thing...

Most Challenger SRT-8s are not going to be daily drivers/high mileage cars. It's a dream car to some people. Either that, or at the price of entry of over $45k or so depending on dealer markup, gas prices are not quite as big of a concern to those people.

How many $45k+ cars get over 30mpg? Not that many. And the ones that do are usually even less practical than the Challenger.

I predict these cars will end up like the Thunderbird. T-Birds were selling from 5-10k over sticker when they first came out. Once the initial rush for them was over, they sat and sat on the lots.

Now you can get them pretty reasonably. Same thing's going to happen with the Challenger, unless they really limit the production.

Clean launch, that you driving?

Nah... It's a random video I pulled off youtube. It, however, looks representative of what the cars can do in stock form.
