When I moved to Alabama, I woke up at 9AM that morning (getting ~5 hours of sleep), packed and loaded a truck all day, and left NY at ~1AM. My friend and I arrived in AL at 4:30 PM (~17 hours -- EST to CST). I was towing my car behind, and we could only go about 50MPH up hills. :\

My advice after that... never rent a U-Haul. Pieces of garbage don't even have cruise control or a CD player in them! Near the end of the drive, my foot was literally convulsing.

I remember moving back from MA to CA. Yep drivers in NYC are vicious as well as MA, toward the midwest the drivers there are nice and polite, while the southwest was like a race with the raised speed limits (75MPH).
