Dropped my cell phone in the toilet :(

Yup.
<- experience.

Leave off, remove battery. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours before even thinking of turning it on again.
Hope.

Have dropped my company cell in fresh concrete and washed off with hose. That old Nextel brick is still working, can't seem to kill it.

I've had small electronics survive similar things. The key is to let it dry all the way. Get every open that you can on the thing (within reason) and just let it dry. It won't cost you anything to wait. Good luck. 🙂

Funny, I did the same thing. Let it dry (actually put it inside my computer on one of the power supplies. hehehehe). Now it won't get any reception, and it turns on automatically--I can't turn the phone off now. Oh well. Off to ebay to find another one, as somehow, this phone didn't have the protection plan either!!! Grrrrrrrr.
Tas.

i accidently ran mine underwater......removed the battery let it dry and it works fine..it would drop callas at first but it stopped after another 2 days....

the battery has a little paper reactive thing on it that turns pink if water gets on it...do not take it back to the phone company becuase theyll say that thing is pink and you have to replace it becuase it wont work...and they wont do anything else on ur phone...

Pics now

It's nothing special to look at really, if I'd had my cam handy I mighta snapped a shot of it in there but I fished it out pretty quick after laughing at myself.

Was there umm... stuff in the toilet?

I was taking a leak and the clip slid off my belt. There was nothing solid in there fortunately 🙂. I actually do remember getting some sort of protection plan (bought the phone at radioshack, they don't let you leave without one iirc) so I'm gonna wait a couple days and see if it works. Otherwise I'll have to dig up that contract...

left mine in my jeans...wnet though the washer. worked afer. i have sense then goten a new phone because it was POS phone before

My rule of thumb, if it was a number1, it'll probably still work after it's dried out. If it was a number2, well, it'll still probably work, but I doubt you'd want to every put it near your mouth or nose ever again. Time to get a new phone.

i dropped mine on a fresh stool, once, picked it out, still working, all it said was 'accessory not supported'!! still works

wait... a fresh stool?
do you mean you dropped it on a turd and just picked it up :Q

I've heard of other people doing this as well. But I still can't comprehend how you can drop your cell phone in the toilet.

yep, i believe the term is butter fingers, gave it a wipe, got stolen the next week on a train, tho, so some poor guys brought a dodgy mobile with free extras, woot,

I leaned over to flush the toilet and my pager flipped out of my holder as it was flushing. Didn't even have a chance to attempt saving it. I hear it happens all the time, atleast that is what they told me when I went to get my replacement pager!!
