IF that's all that's wrong... You can probably get it replaced at a notebook repair shop if you can find one. Around here we have 'Mr. Notebook' which does some of that stuff. But even a simple fix like this can run $100 just for the labor. Depends on what your laptop's really worth, it might just be better to upgrade yourself to a new budget lineup laptop if that suits your needs. Only you can decide though. Check your yellow pages. If it's not local, shipping alone would likely throw the cost out the window so...

Notebooks can be son-of-a-guns to take apart and reassemble. An OEM part may have to be ordered. The circuit board could have also gotten cracked and the notebook may not be worth repairing. Recommend the task be given to a competent notebook repair shop. The charge is typically $85 to open it up and give you an opinion with that service charge going to any subsequent authorized further repair work. If it is repairable, then expect at least a $100 billing.

do it yourself and learn on the job.

pop it open and find out which pieces are cracked.

ebay the parts.

some manufacturers put out pdf or html docs of how to disassemble the chassis and even how to diagnose it. also, other forums with people who have similar problems or tech experts will be able to help you.

post the model and the pictures, and someone will help you.

thanks lanyap i found out after searching they made the jack with the cable bought it and fixed it myself! on it right now, working great.. just hope i never have to do that again lol
