Dropped External Hard Drive

Hard drive: Cavalry 500GB USB 2.0 (out of warranty). Should be a Western Digital inside.

I dropped it while watching a movie off of it. It worked for a few minutes afterwards, however now when I start it up, Windows does not properly recognize it as a drive. (It shows up as "USB Device" in Device Manager, but that is it. It does not show up in Computer Management -> Disk Management )

When I start it up, it sounds like the fan or something is spinning and it makes a few clicking noises. This goes on for like 20 seconds or so until it becomes quiet.

Any tips or suggestions? I can open it up but I don't know what I can achieve by doing that.

Thanks!

Usually it may mean it has ran into surface issues and possibly has damaged the read head. Opening the case and check the connector may be worth the shot.
