Ahh, in front of a Safeway, I saw this beautiful blue M3. My brother and I stood in awe for about 10 mins since these are getting pretty rare. We caught up with the owner who said he paid around 70-80K for it ( Fargin mark up), but damn was it nice.
Luckily we had a camera so we took pictures of it with my brothers Focus next to it. I think just parking next to that car increased the value of the focus :)

Will post pics later.

Why do people say "Bimmer"? Is that the spelling that goes along with BEE-mur (emphasis added;))? To me that looks like BIM-er, but I've never heard anybody say that out loud. Someone fill me in...

The new M3 is just arriving in Australia now, list price of 132,000 AUS... so about 65000 USA dollars....DROOL!!!

I believe the convention is:

bimmer = BMW automobiles
beemer = BMW motorcycles

and both are pronounced beam-er.

If you do a google search with "bimmer" you'll turn up lotsa cars, and with "beemer" you turn up motorcycles.

That's gotta be one of the lamest things I've ever heard, regardless of it being true or not ;)

i just saw an earlier model M5 a few days ago
first one i have ever seen on the road

the M5 are nice though
i was in one at the car show...i wish i had the money :(

Oh, It's true alright, and yea, the beemer was derived i believe from the very bright single headlamp the motorcycles had, but not absolutely sure, and so to differentiate the automobiles they just spellt it differently.

An M3 will out handle and out perform the M5. I wouldn't say that it would outright kick the M5's ass, but it is fundamently faster and has better handling.

I am with you on your enthusiasm for sleeper cars that surprise with their performance, but this is still a New Beetle. Be prepared for a lot of snide comments and sniggering at your choice of ride, even if it DOES have 500 bhp. Give me the same drivetrain in, say, a GTI and I would be ten times happier.

This page reads like a bunch of paranoid nonsense to me. I understand this guy's frustrations with the problems his car has suffered, but he seems to have developed the delusion that BMW is primarily in business to screw him. He has certainly not persuaded ME not to buy a BMW.
