This is why the whole 'battery life' argument is moot for owners of a phone like the DX. Batteries are dirt cheap, and you can pop one in in two seconds. Just ignore those that are too dainty to change a battery and act like its a big deal- get a few $5 batteries and you're never out of juice or tethered to a charger.
The problem with some of the ultra-cheap ass batteries you'll find on ebay (even less than $5!) is they don't register a battery gauge. That's an OEM battery so it doesn't have that issue.
Verizon charges a bloody fortune. Remember- these are the same people that will also charge you $30 for a $5 car charger.
The only reason to pay more than a few bucks is an extended battery that also comes with a cover. Those can hold a charge for nearly 3 days of normal use. On the DX, the extended batteries don't add any bulk to the phone- they're like a millimeter thicker- but they do require their own third party cover that looks virtually the same as the original, but accommodates the slight extra thickness without adding tension that can warp your screen. Don't cheap out on an extended battery though- the good ones are around $60 and are thin as I described. The cheap-o ones are bulky and don't even hold as long a charge.
