Droid Camera Fix

Many Droid users are reporting that their cameras are suddenly working properly with either no known changes to the system or with a simple cleaning of the lens.

So, if you have a Droid and have been disappointed in the camera, now's the time to try it out again. You may be pleasantly surprised. If not, try cleaning the lens with a little water and a soft cloth and see if that helps.

I am of the opinion that Verizon has pushed out a silent update to the phones as there seems to be an overall improvement in the camera's software, but others are claiming that there definitely haven't been any OTA updates.

In any case, it's interesting to me that this is now working. My own camera has seen a huge improvement in focusing.

Boy Genius Report is also claiming a silent update.

Engadget commenter is claiming a date-rounding bug as the cause of the focus issues. Apparently the focus cycles between good and bad on a 24.5-day cycle.

the only issue i really have with the camera on mine is that weird delay of stillness required after a photo

its like, i take a picture, i move the camera AFTER
i see the pic, looks fine for a second - then it 'updates' to this big motion blurred version

it's fine as long as i hold the camera still for about 1 second after the sound
