Droid 2 or Incredible?

I'm planning on getting a Verizon smartphone sometime in the next week or so, and I'd be interested to hear your recommendations on Droid 2 vs. Incredible (or other? The Droid X feels too big to me).

I'm a little stuck between the two of them; I at first preferred the Incredible over the Droid 2 since it doesn't seem to me that a physical keyboard is necessary, and I dislike dealing with things like a Blockbuster app forced onto the phone. Plus, the Engadget review was a little luke-warm for the Droid 2.

But hearing about the battery issues that people have been having with the Incredible (though maybe this is better in 2.2?), it sounds like the Droid 2 might be the way to go, since I would greatly prefer to only have to charge my battery at night.

What do you guys think about these two?

The battery issue really wasn't resolved with 2.2 on the Incredible, but it's not as bad as you might think. It's definitely not as good as the Droid/Droid 2 though, my co-workers phone definitely lasts longer on a single charge.

Droid X? I just got one and it's fan-effing-tastic.

Once you've had a taste of the big screen, no 3.x" smartphone will be able to satisfy you in the same way.

I like the incredible but the fact it's all but useless outside kills it for me. I agree that the bulk of the keyboard on the Droid 2 is not needed. My solution, I agree with bucwylde23, wait for the Fascinate.

I have an Incredible and am pretty impressed with it, recommended.

The Droid 2 is recently reported to have the lowest return rate of any smartphone on Verizon, that's pretty impressive. http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010...t-smartphone-return-rate-on-verizon-wireless/

I suspect you'll be happy with either one....

It now looks like a shiny blue POS plastic toy.

4G service is at least a year away from a large rollout on Verizon. You should upgrade to a new phone before then anyway.

hmm i was thinking in most major cities by early next year, in which case 2 years with a non-4g phone would be to long

Oh that steaming pile of shit? (See front page review)

Whats wrong about it? Fascinate doesnt have 4G so all of that is thrown out the window.

Theres no qwerty so any grips about build quality is out. Btw I have no problems with my Epic's build quality as the slide is damn solid.

Battery life? Yea its not the greatest but I get 10 hours good with streaming music for at least 5 hours while surfing web at the same time. I dont know how Anand got only 4 hours but I definitely get more. I keep Pandora/Di.FM steaming non stop from when I wake up, go to the gym, drive to work, and the drive back from work and surfing the net. Much more than 4 hours. I also make sure I dont have 50 apps running at the same time with Task Killer as people forget that the Android multitasks. I keep a car charger and I keep it charged when Im at home. Solves all the problems with battery.

The GPS is sketchy with Google Maps but I use Sprint Navigation and it works fine for me.

I dont see anywhere in the review where he says its a POS. Swype is awesome, the Super AMOLED is amazing, and the phone is extremely smooth for me. Ill give it up to the iPhone 4 for a high resolution screen but it is also 3.5 inches, which after using the Epic dwarfs it by far.

Have you actually spend time playing with it before labeling it as a POS ??
I have always been touting the HD2 until I got my hand on a Captivate.
The 4" inch csreen is perfect in everyway.
Super thin and light.
I love everything about the phone minus the GPS issue and no-flash.
The Fascinate has flash and assuming that the Epic GPS is much better, the Fascinate might be too.
Yeah. I would wait for the Fascinate too.

The front page review of the Epic on Anandtech really destroyed my enthusiasm for the Galaxy S phones. Sure they are fast, but worse battery life than the Evo? On a next gen phone with a 45nm processor? GPS is basically unusable? Means the Droid 2 and X will remain the kings. Incredible is really good but I'd take a 2 or X over it any day since they are the same price and the X and 2 outdo it in nearly every specification(CPU, GPU, battery life, storage, sunlight visibility, build quality, call quality, reception).

I agree, after I read the review and saw the battery life I thought to myself how would anyone be able to use this phone without being tied to a wall outlet.

I returned my Droid 2 a few days ago after owning it for over 3 weeks. I think I got one of the early problem units because battery life was terrible despite everything I did, it jumped from full to no reception all the time. I was considering swapping it for a replacement but decided to order an X instead.

Curious to why do you guys keep refering to Anand review of the Epic and compare it to the Fascinate(which is the Verizon phone in question here).
If anything, compare it to the Vibrant or Captivate variety which does not have a keyboard.
My Captivate last more than a day just fine.
All the reviews I've seen say the same thing.
Sure the battery life is not as good as the IP4 but lasting more than a whole day is not a problem.

I responded to you saying that the review put the epic in a bad light. Since everyone tends to compare every smartphone now to the iphone it a given to compare to it. Maybe I don't get an iphone cause att is a pos in my area? Or how bout the fact that I don't wanna be locked to syncing to shitty itunes all the damn time. Maybe I like the ability to be able to multitask as much as I want. I've done much more to customize my phone in the last three days than I could ever do being locked to ios with out jailbreaking it .why don't you add something to this thread rather than pick 5 words and write some bullshit.
