No you use them because you are a moron. We have covered this many times. But you work your ass off to provide for your family, which makes you a great person.

I just get mad at the idiots who choose to use these products and then complain when they do things like this. They are out to make a profit so deal with it or don't use them. Just quit bitching already.

if you look super damn sexy like i do with a little bit of stubble, spend 40 bucks on this and almost never have to shave:

but i am also going to switch to a DE shaver for when i do need to be totally clean shaven

Don't see why it matters that much. We should be seeing DRM free generic single cup coffee makers hit the shelves pretty soon. At which point there will be no need for Keuring's overprices hipster crap.

Vote with your wallet 🙂

  • Tom 10/30/2012 This coffee ruined my childhood. If I was awake first, my mother expected me to make it. It is very complicated and I was always afraid that I woud do it wrong. Report Abuse "
Totally made me want to click the link to report the abuse, poor Tom 🙁

For the record:

1) A lot of Keurig coffee pods are terrible, but some are pretty decent. In fact, I just picked up some grocery story "premium" brand coffee (President's Choice) and it's not bad. Interestingly, the pods look nothing like Keurig pods, basically just a flat round top like the Keurig pods, but with a rounded teabag-like mesh bag underneath, but it works perfectly in the Keurig coffee makers. It is NOT sanctioned by Keurig, but it's better than many if not most Keurig pods.

2) I don't make a pot of coffee, because I don't need a pot of coffee. I've never understood that argument, to make 4 cups of coffee when you only need one. We have a separate coffee maker for that, but regular coffee makers can't single cups of coffee properly. Actually, our latest full sized coffee maker does the grinding itself. We got it as a housewarming gift. You pour the beans in, you pour the water in, and then it grinds and brews it itself. It's great, but again it makes a minimum of 4 cups of coffee, but works better brewing 6-8 cups.

Keurig is best for when I'm in a rush in the morning. Pour the water and pod in, and press a button. 2 minutes later I have a cup of coffee, just after I've wolfed down that toast and banana or whatever. OTOH, on the weekend when I have more time, and when everyone in the house can sit together for breakfast, I may brew a pot of coffee.

3) I have used premium pre-ground coffee (eg. Illy) in reusable pods in the Keurig system. Some don't work so well because they're too finely ground, but when it works, it brews great coffee, one cup at a time, and it only takes me 5 seconds longer while using very little ground coffee.

4) I find the comment about Keurig's hipsterness kind of odd. Given the usage above, it's pretty much the opposite. Keurig brewers are about convenience, not high end coffee historically. If you want to talk hipsterism, look at espresso/cappucino machine. BTW, I only buy these things when they go on sale. You can usually find them for about 40% off a few times a year.

5) I will vote with my dollars. If Keurig goes full on DRM, I'll just not buy one, unless someone develops a simple hack that takes no effort. More likely though is I suspect the 3rd party non-pod single-cup brewers will get better and maybe I can buy one of those to use with that Illy or similar coffee I was talking about before. Or maybe I'll go full on hipster/yuppie and get a cappucino maker. They make better espresso than the stove top espresso makers / moka pots and don't explode.

What does this mean for the refillable cups that even Keurig sells? I don't think we have really purchased anything since the initial box.

I have a 4 cup coffee maker and routinely just set it to make 2.5-3 cups, as that's a little bit more than a mug of coffee. I don't know why you'd buy a 12-cup coffee maker for only 1 mug's worth of coffee.

Numerous things stop them from doing that.

Like what? Capitalism encourages such action. The ideal capitalist world is 1 company for 1 product. In the end it will be a battle against Keurig and Tassimo and one of them will win. They'll patent all the possible ways of making coffee so even a standard pot will be illegal. It could happen.

That said the concept of making coffee is rather simple so people will just find alternate ways if it really comes down to that. I just hope this DRM thing makes people not buy a keurig and that it hits sales, and maybe that will send them a message. But the general public probably does not even know what DRM means.

This is where I like China. They don't care about copyright, patents, DRM and all that bullshit. Companies can manufacture what they want and sell what they want. This is how it should be, this is how healthy competition works. If someone has the capability of making a product the same or better as someone else, then all the power to them. It forces companies to innovate if they want to stay on top.

I'm not a coffee snob, but those PC ones actually are pretty good TBH.

Yea, I'l just stick with my Bunn-o-matic coffee maker. The Keurigs have never impressed me at all. You pay more money for less coffee and more work. Sounds stupid to me.

Preground coffee is blah.
Small cups of coffee is blah.

Fvck that.

Burr Grinder + Good hot drip brew = delicious coffee every day!
