it's a corolla w/a GM tag, literally. (Prizm comes out of a Corolla plant joint venture w/GM.)
so a corolla at 1/2 the price. (tho avoid any prizms made last century.)

pull over and take a nap. if you get in a wreck from sleeping you deserve to lose your license for a short time and a huge fine.

You still need insurance company to come out with their own claim adjuster most likely. They might also appoint you to their authorized repair shop, although you are free to go anywhere you want but they'll mail you a claim check based on their estimate, unless additional parts are required.
If you guys are both over 25 then maybe let her policy cover this accident. She's a woman and the increase in her premium will be lower than yours.
Pontiac Vibes are the same as Toyota Matrix, based on a Corolla platform.
If you don't mind American, you can consider the Pontiac G6 or the Ford Fusion. Both are slightly larger vehicles though, but might give you a better feeling of security.
Edit: unless there's frame damage that renders the vehicle unsafe to operate, insurance companies most likely won't bulge and consider it totalled.

I've heard they have a tendency to total it if it gets above a % of total value, but I'm waiting to see. We took it to a large well known shop that does a lot of insurance work. My mom's had work done out there before and they usually get away with sending detailed pictures and estimates to the insurance agents because they have a good rep. We'll see though, I wouldn't mind taking it elsewhere. The frame didnt look bent, the drivers side bend some good metal and screwed up some intake connections and the fuse box.
We don't mind American, except for the HHR that we got as a rental.

I need to get around to calling the tow company, and letting them know how not usefull it is for their driver's first words out of their mouth to essentially tell the obviously upset person how many ways they almost died.
He's a tow truck driver, not a psychotherapist. If you want a company that coddles your feelings, expect to pay three times as much.
How much does a company who keeps their mouth shut and their opinions to themselves cost?

glad you are ok. happy you didnt kill anyone. BUT that was a really fucking dumb thing to do.
Personally i feel soemone who falls asleep while driving should be severly punished. lose the right to drive for a few months and have a good fine.
I consider myself a pretty responsible driver but there are times when its almost impossible to stay awake. You just have to have it within yourself to pull over and take a brief nap to wake yourself up.

And if I'd done something like that in a similar situation, I'd fully be expecting my fiancee to be yelling the same thing. I doubt she'll fall asleep in the car with you again.Originally posted by: bluestrobe

The driver probably did this because he's towed several vehicles with the same case but no survivors. Although it was the most tactful thing to do I wouldn't bother the tow company over it. Driving to the point where you fall asleep at the wheel is not the most smartest thing to do.

The more I think about this the more upset I get. Please do us all a favor and hand in your license, now. All I keep thinking about is if my girlfriend/mother/sister was unfortunate enough to be passing you (or scum like you) when you dozed off.
Please get the fuck off the road.

Agreed. This is like a freaking DUI. Everytime I've felt sleepy I pull off the road and go sleep.

Hardly... Some people just don't know how tired they have to be to fall asleep at the wheel, personally i found that its not as tired i had thought..
You can't compare this to driving drunk!
