I actually consider the traffic in Vietnam better, except for the taxis... They drive 20-30 km/h on scooters, and just have to play the dodging game. While in a car, it's much harder to do that, but the scooters have so much versatility that it is easier to dodge taxis...
Over here, we rely more towards cars and go much much faster (96 km/h for highways for 60 mph, 56 km/h for regular roads @ 35 mph, 40 km/h @ 25 mph on a suburban road). Plus, if an accident occurs, the traffic jam here is much worse than a traffic jam in Vietnam (which rarely happens in the first place).
Anywho, what I find lame from my crappy driving experience...
- Merging on a freeway. There's always a traffic jam two exits long because of people trying to merge into the freeway.
- When a patrol car decides to turn their lights on and pull over a car @ 60 mph in < 100 yards on a freeway where the shoulder is not wide enough to even support a car in the first place. Thus, forcing all the cars behind to swerve into an adjacent lane for the first couple and then making the rest of the cars in that lane to merge into another lane. Thus, a big traffic jam in one lane and going from 60 mph - 0 mph in < 25 yards is very very dangerous...
- Tailgaters...
- Those who feel that HWY99 here is just like any other highway and left lane ( two way "Highway"/"State Route") = passing lane. First... there's a traffic light at every intersection and there's always a left turn lane at every intersection. One block is not enough to pull off a pass if the car is driving at the speed limit and passing on a 35 mph zone is very unlikely. Plus, there are left turn lanes as well, so there is a chance of the left lane getting clogged. Either way, slower cars keep right when I want to make a left one block up? Your problem not mine.
- The people whose taillights DO NOT WORK AT ALL... For god sake, YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE DRIVING ON THE ROAD... Lucky for me I caught on your lights didn't work beforehand, otherwise I would've smashed into you.
