We have a lot of mini roundabouts (pic) around here and what pisses me off is when drivers decide to turn right across the hump and nearly hit you as you go straight across from the other direction.

And if 2 ppl are turning left coming from opposite sides, you turn in front of the other person, not behind them.
Similarly, there is this bridge near my house that confuses the hell out of anyone over the age of 50. Along the bridge's downramp on one side there is an access road parallel to the downramp. The access road has a stop sign so that cars traveling on the access road have to slow down to merge into traffic coming off the bridge. So what do you think these idiots coming over the bridge do? THEY FSCKING STOP for the access road's stopsign. There isn't even a cross-street! Just the parallel downramp and access road. It causes accidents every day, because others coming over the bridge can't see the idiots stopped until the last second (because the bridge is quite steep). Even worse, 100 yards from the bridge on either side of it, there are 4-way stops. I avoid driving down this road whenever possible. :|

Yeech, makes me dizzy just looking at that. How's everyone supposed to get to where they're going...
4 way stops are the most pointless things ever...it always pisses me off when people get pissed at you for not complete stopping just because its ingrained in their head that its the right thing to do. At certain 4 way stops I'll stop all the way because you can't see. At other 4 way stops its obvious theres no cars coming and I'll roll through them or slow donw a little to the point where I could stop and just blow through them. At night, I don't even bother stopping because I know if a car is coming I'm going to be able to see the headlights from alongass way away.
Speaking of running stop signs though, I once told this girl all stop signs with white around them were optional, and she proceeded to run a bunch of them...finally I told her after she ran a few, but i twas the funniest thing ever

That's known as the 'magic roundabout' and is in Swindon, UK. I'm sure the locals know what they are doing with it, but I wouldn't ever want to drive around there.

What is the proper way to use a roundabout? There are none anywheres near me, so I've never used one before, but I think I kinda figured it out.

I completely agree. Actually, I was so pissed off when this happened to me twice on the way home yesterday that I actually bitched about it in an away message-sad, huh?
.but yeah, drivers need to GO when it's their right of way. If I run a stop sign and hit you, well, life's a bitch and I'll have to pay. but you know what? im not gonna run the sign (at least when other people are there
), and your little "me-you?" routine when it's clearly your turn is only going to make me go, then you'll start, and THAT'S when accidents can happen.

Man, we've got several round-a-bouts already up, and several more (for a total of 20, I think) in the works. There are two problems with them where I live:
1) They're too small. They're replacing four-way stops, and they're on roads with big-trucks, so the dump-trucks that travel the routes just end up driving over the middle of them.
2) It gets icy here, so people end up sliding around them, etc...
3) Nobody in this town (Bend, Oregon) has the sense to use a turn signal.
Regardless, traffic's backed up worse now, and there have been far more accidents on the busy roads than there EVER were before the circles...idiots. We just have a bunch of elitist yuppie punks who want to make Bend (a town of 50,000, mind you) like a fancy European city, so they're not putting in stop lights when we need them...they're putting in more expensive round-a-bouts, all thanks to private funding from the rich folks here (who all should go back to California instead of turning this once-small town into an Aspen, CO).
