Driving on flat tire

I didn't realize I had a flat tire and drove about 1/4 mile through my apt complex, at no more than 20 mph. The tire was completely flat. Do you think the tire is destroyed from driving on it?

Also, the car was just sitting when the tire went flat. Is there something that make tires go flat when it gets really cold out?

Just swap on your spare and take it to a decent local tire shop. They'll take a look at it and tell you if you killed it.

You could lose a few psi when it gets cold out but if it went flat you've got something else going on. If it was fine a day or two before you've probably run over a nail or something that punctured the tire.

Get it checked out before you drive on it. I had to drive on a flat tire to get out of a dangerous situation once, and when I dismounted it, there was TONS of chewed up and powdered rubber inside. The culprit is the rim riding on the inside of the tire with the full weight of the car bearing down on it. That's no small deal. Take it to a shop, have them dismount it and check the inside. I would guess it's toast. If it isn't make sure you address the original issue that caused the flat in the first place.

If you discover a nail in your tire, most reputable tire places won't patch it if it's within a certain distance from the sidewall. I want to say 1" but it's been awhile.
