Driving a automatic car after your use to a stick???

I just ownt my self so hard. I had to park a car for someone and the thing was a slushie! I was jerking the car non stop at first trying to get myself to go. I swear if you drive a stick for along time than once you get back in an auto your left foot is going to be lonely. I had to parallel park this car and once i put it in reverse i was scared to add gas b/c i thought i would hit the car in back of me! Man, i love my clutch (feathering the clutch) and 5spd shifter compared to theses autos!

Strange thing the car i learned to drive on was a slushie and i loved driving it because i sucked so hard @ my mustangs 5spd transmission. Months later i love my 5spd and hate automatics!

Going from stick to auto is only a pain because you want to clutch for the first week or so. Moving from an auto back to a stick is a snap.

I drive both...I often stomp on a non-existant clutch in my auto Camry...Once, I even pushed the transmission shifter forward to Park...thinking it's 1st gear, and wondering why I'm not moving when I give it throttle 😀

After over a year, I really like driving stick, but I can appreciate still having an auto - I've been stuck in some horrendous bumper-to-bumpter traffic lately going through tunnels and bridges.

I just moved the car to a closer parking space and i got stuck again. I ended up sitting there and revving the car than to later see i had the ebrake pulled up. I always pull up the ebrake in my 5spd when i get out, but in slushies i dont so i didnt think to pull it down. ;[ Once again i couldn't reverse the car with a steady speed because ill give it to much gas almost into the car behind me. In my 5spd i usually feather the clutch out a tight parking space with no problem.

My wife wants our next (and only) car to be auto...gonna suck...

Aww...

Better to have your left foot lonely and have your right hand with a companion.

That's no excuse. GF and I do it and we both drive sticks. We even shift for each other sometimes (like if the driver has to answer the phone).

you don't do it then, because when one person shifts, there is a letting go of the hands (or at least a disruption/distraction of the hand holding). She wants total and unadulterated hand holding while driving.

Honestly I can't really complain, she's working and supporting me through law school. She's basically paying for the car...

i had a bit of trouble going from a stick to an auto, my right hand felt useless mostly, so i just pasted some nws pics on my dash.

I drive a 5 speed 90% of the time, and my Fiancee has an automatic.

I have zero problems going back and forth between the two...

When I did that I kept finding myself reaching for the clutch and my right hand grabbing for the shifter.

I have a hard time myself. Always trying to put the shifter into neutral when approaching a stop light...my left leg has nothing to do...driving autos is simply a bore!
