Hey Guys,

When I return from Standby mode in Windows XP HE my CD/RW and DVD drives don't work unless I restart. What would cause this problem? System specs below:

P4 2.8Ghz (533)
512MB Kingston DDR
MSI 845G Motherboard
SB Live! 5.1
40GB Maxtor + 60GB IBM 60GXP

Also, I have the SP1 for XP installed, is this an OS problem or something with my motherboard?

In my experience, standby and hibernation are simply buggy states and can't be trusted across the board. There are better ways to save power. Just turn the monitor off and leave the computer on.

No matter what they say, Standby is NOT meant to be used on desktops.....most systems have problems coming out of standby (if they come out at all). DON'T USE STANDBY!

That is all.....
