I just bought a Geforce FX 5900XT w/ VIVO. I normally use the detonator reference drivers. Right now im using the beta 60.72's. MSI's drivers have special things on them that are unique to my card. It seems that its the reference drivers with other stuff added on. Which should i use Nvidia or MSI.

I have the same video card as you and I always just use the reference drivers from nvidia.

Can someone explain why. Yeah, nvidia reference drivers are for the most part a bit faster but why so definite. Also which proogram that, if any, that came with this card is the one that allows me to watch TV and what not.
MSI 5900XT-vtd128

99% of the time, reference will be better (assuming they are even different at all, aside from a couple logos).

Since around the time of the GF3 card makers have kept with reference electrical, if not physical, designs. Some companies add utilities and features to drivers that screw things up. Kinda like the hardware monitoring programs and such many mobos come with that will cause you nothing but trouble. The reference drivers are free from all such things, and should just...work.

The VTD128 has vivo which will allow you to do video capture, is that what you are trying to do?

I`ve used Nvidia reference drivers since TNT1 days, the main reason being , they`re updated before other drivers(MSI,etc) and have never given me any problems.

Just checked and you need msi tuner support to view tv using msi media center deluxe II. The only MSI video cards with a built in tv tuner is the Personal Cinema video cards. My vcr is always plugged into my computer anyway so I just use that as a tv tuner! :)

Use the reference drivers because they update a lot more often than MSI does. I've got an AOpen card and they almost never updated. I've also got an MSI mobo and their nForce drivers are old as crap. Stick with nVidia's reference drivers, esp since nVidia updates on a regular basis.

Which system drivers are you using for your nf2?
