Drivers to Use w/ 8800GTX?

I recently installed an 8800GTX and as of right now am getting pretty poor results. After during a fresh install I installed the 97.44 drivers...However, I have been playing a little bit of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield which on my old card--a 7800 GTX--ran flawlessly with all settings maxed. However, with the 8800 I am getting a decent amount of stuttering...

I am hoping it is just a drivers issue and thus I was wondering if there was a previous version of drivers that would help me actually take advantage of my purchase...

Thanks

I don't play Raven Shield, so I can't make specific comments about that game, but v97.28 works fine for me with Quake 4, Oblivion, Gothic 3 & FEAR.

I have a BFG 8800GTX and, even though the cards runs great in most games, I am very disappointed with AA of this card. I have tried settings from 2x up to 16xQ, from App. Controlled to Enhanced to Override mode and nothing seems to work. I am getting a bad case of the jaggies in a lot of games. I have tried the 97.02 and the 97.44 sets and it didn't make a difference. Anybody else experience bad AA with this card that you were not able to control through either the game or Display Properties?

I have been chalking it up to immature drivers for this card, but....I don't know.

It's a matter of luck I think whether or not the drivers work for you.
You should do the things mentioned towards the bottom of this page when you install the new drivers:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/gf8800-games_27.html

Also make sure to use driver cleaner pro with every driver install (IN SAFE MODE) like you should already be doing ;)

Also, check out:

People with 8800's have complained about it but it is the best driver if you can get it to work right.

I was having problems implementing AA with HDR in Oblivion using only driver settings, then I installed a utility called nHancer which made everything work fine for me. You should give that a try as well.

I did install v2.10 of nHancer and it didn't seem to help. :( I'm hoping a new driver set will come out that addresses this issue (fingers-crossed!!).

Wow, thats too bad ... based on comments I've read in other forums you arn't alone though... driver support for the 8800's has been a bit shaky so far.

I was all set to pull the trigger on an 8800GTX about a week ago until I started researching it.
A lot of people are having issues with drivers for this card so I decided to hold off and keep my 7800GT until:
1. Driver issues are fixed
2. R600 launches and comparisons in price and performance are out there.

I don't have a magnifiying tool so it's difficult to for me to determine whether I have a faulty resistor...However, I only purchased my card about a week ago is it likely that I received a faulty card?

Yesterday evening I also attempted to play Half-Life 2 and got very good performance so I'm hoping that it's just an issue with Raven Shield...Will test it on some other newer games to see if I continue to achieve good results...

Sorry to keep asking questions but with a FX-55, 8800GTX, 2GB DDR 400 ram--all at stock speeds-- what would you estimate my 3dmarks score? When I find my score, I am informed that there are not enough similar configurations to suitably compare with so I don't have any real way of comparing my performance with similar setups...

Thanks again for all the help...
