Drivers Permit to Drivers License

Well I was in drivers ed 2 years ago and have been on my permit since. When I got my permit I had to pay $20 to cover the cost of the permit and the driver's license.

The thing is I have not got my license yet and my permit expired. I am also 18 years of age now.

Will I have to repay the $20 and the drivers ed place? This is in the state of Illinois if that helps. I tried looking on the DMV but this seems to be a gray area at best.

I still have my expired permit so would that be considered proof of payment.

Hmm, stupid me, lol. I forgot about IL law. Pay until you cant pay any more.

I guess I will just bring a few extra bucks with me for a just in case scenario.

Thanks.

Not from Illinois, but I've seen similar happen here. Assuming you're even within the grace period to "renew" an expired permit, I'm willing to bet you'll have to pay for a renewal and wait a week or two before being eligible to get the full license.
