Drivers/Patches for an AMD system. Have I missed anything??

Just want to check if i've missed anything.

soon to build...

AXIA 1.4ghz chip
Gigabyte GA7-DXR mobo AMD761/Via 686B Promise ATA100 w/ RAID chip, onboard creative sound
OS 98/ME/2k (not decided yet)
RadeonDDR
USR 56k v.92 ext
Pionner slot in DVD-ROM (Does this need drivers?)

IDE driver from VIA 4-in-1
Promise Drivers

Onboard sound drivers (I will be using on-board sound)

Any patches?? I'm not sure.

I won't be using the RAID but are there different promise drivers for raid/no raid??

Any preference for installation order?

Use drivers on CD or download updated drivers and use those straight away?

How am I going to install win2k if all the IDE ports are ATA100?

I emailed Dabs.com about both.

Chip 6th May
Board about 1 week to get me one (I presume 1 week after I place the order)

At first glance it seems you've got everything you need...

Install the 4-in-1's first. From there I would say it's just preference. I get the vid card working asap cause I hate the low res standard. :)

If you decide to go with Win2k then install SP2 right after the initial installation. Then do the AMD AGP registry patch. Then the Windows Compatibility Update. Then the 4-in-1s (I recommend 4.31). Then DirectX 8.

The easiest way to install Win2k is to have it boot from the CD. Just go into the BIOS to set the boot sequence.

There are two ways to go about using the Promise ATA100 adapter. One way is to simply put the hard drive on the regular IDE channel, install Windows from there and then move the drive to the Promise controller.

Or you can download the Promise ATA100 drivers and put them on a floppy; you will need this later. Then when you boot from the Win2k CD the installation program will ask you to hit F6 if you want to load a SCSI or RAID device. Go ahead and hit F6 since your Promise controller is essentially seen as a SCSI device. Then just follow the instructions from there.....you should be able to figure it out.
