As we all know Creative almost never releases new drivers for their products. So many of you may not be aware that a newer driver and Creative Media Source Suite is avalable. The new driver and suite do help to improve the overall sound quality. They have also fixed a few Direct Sound bugs (I experienced) that plagued the last version of the driver pack.

I'm pretty happy with the new driver pack myself. I might almost be willing to go as far as to say it gave new life to my A2 ZS.

Did you recalibrate your Speakers?

I only have a 2.1 speaker setup, there's not much to calibrate. I don't have a place for anything more than that without intruding on my wife's sense of decorum. :p

You need your own room buddy, where it is yours to do what ever you want; then let her have the rest of the house the way she wants it.

It still helps to calibrate 2.1 systems.

I'd have to make one of the kids move out to have my own room. The oldest is 14 so I guess my room will have to wait a few years. ;)

4 Years is not to bad, so in the mean time is their room in the garage for your private space?

Yes you should or if you do not the driver will do it for you and reboot. I recommend you let the driver do it for you. The installation process is slow so you will need patience.

I live in Texas where most of the year is unbearably hot. The garage swelters. You know, my wife would love for me to have my own room, and I would like one too. But I can wait a few years for my kids to begin to move out.

In the meantime I have a decent set of cans to wear when I need volume for gaming goodness.

Can I just install this driver over my existing one? Or should I uninstall the old driver first and then install this one?

Sorry for such a newb question but I really don't want to restart my comp.

The installer will uninstall the old driver for you. It will tell you that, uninstall them, and restart. When you reboot, you will return immediately to the driver installer.

Also remember to reboot into safe mode and run both Ad-Aware and Spybot to remove all the cute stuff that Creative gives you that nobody wants hobbling their PC.

Most recent drivers are November, but they're newer than the ones on the installation CD. Haven't tried them yet.

Hmm, all the joys of new drivers? Does it include the Crystalizer too and CMSS3D Headphone? Or will someone have to hack the X-Fi drivers to work with older Audigies?
