Driver uninstallation Issue

Ok, so I had a post you about a stop error on my system and someone replied back about updating my drivers from each parts individual site. So I go to update the drivers on my Motherboard, a ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe from the nvidia site like I was told. Well, on the site it said to uninstall all previous drivers, so I did and restarted the computer. Well, upon restart and it logging in for me I discovered to my dismay, that nothing worked. I couldn't move my mouse, keyboard was unresponsive, and the New hardware wizard was up. I guess the system could just be frozen too, but as far as I can tell it's just that the mouse and keyboard aren't working so I can't do anything to fix it. What do I do???!!! Ohh, here's the system specs cuz I'm sure someone will ask for them. Also, could I try booting in safe mode and if you think it would work, how exactly do I get it to do that?

Motherboard - ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe
Processor - AMD Athlon X2 4600+
Ram - 2x1GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2
OS - Microsoft Windows XP Home OEM
GPU - XFX Nvidia GeForce 7900GT
Sound Card - SoundBlaster Audigy 4 (still trying to get that to work...)
Hard Drive - Hitachi Deskstar80 Gig 7200 RPM SATA 3.0GB/s
PSU - Fortron AX450-PN

Didn't I already reply to the previous time you asked this?

Ah yes. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=32&threadid=1914214&enterthread=y

Better to just bump the thread so that people can see what else has already been tried.

You boot into safe mode by hitting the F8 key as soon as the POST screen comes up. It's not always easy to time it right, so most people just start hitting it repeatedly once the POST seems to have completed, because you have to get it between the time that POST is finished, and before XP actually starts to boot.

Depending on exactly what you uninstalled (and what you mean by "uninstalled", did you just use Add/Remove Programs or did you manually delete files?), you may end up needing to actually re-install Windows. A Repair install (do a search for it) can let you reinstall Windows without losing your files or applications, but you have to download all the Windows Updates again and put all your settings back.
