Driver issues: USB keyboard

I have a little madcatz thumb board. Its seen by windows as a USB keyboard. I know this because it works fine on my windows xp pro machine. When i throw it in to media center though, the drivers flake out. ive reinstalled thinking it was a wierd driver issue. I got nothing. Some times it work, but then windows flips out and seems to find "Better drivers" and screws it up by using drivers that dont work. Windows XP pro does not do this. Just XP media center. Its infuriating. Does any one have any ideas how to MAKE windows use drivers and to tell it to stop "helping"?

In Device Manager's "Update Driver..." feature, you can tell the autodetection to STFU and let you pick the driver YOU think is best.

Since XP identifies most stuff by connection, not by name and serial number, you'll have to do this all over again when you plug the keyboard into a different USB jack than before.
