just wish from the heart that one day macs would take over and make computers with two mouse bottons, become #1 in perfomance 3D graphics applications, produce computers at a reasonable price , and software developers would actually build software for macs and then we can forget about MS, ATI, nVidia, Intel, AMD, 3COM, Realtech, ASUS, ABIT, GIGA BYTE, ....just forget about all of them...and have one thing that is just beatiful, something that works, something that doesn't crash as often, something worth the money

Think that takes the cake for a overeaction. The resonably priced mac remark had me snorting with laughter for a good 5 minutes. If mac took over the world we would all be paying 5000$ for a 733mhz processer right now and another 3000$ for a cute little 17" monitor........

I personally think some of the language should be cleaned up around here

ICMAN: I used to play a game called Dungeon Keeper 2 on my Windows 98 SE box.
I formatted and installed (not upgraded mind you) Windows 2000 Pro. Then my Dungeon Keeper 2 game. Would not run..
I had three other computers at the time all with Windows 2000 Pro on them. I tried the game on each of them. Would not run.
I finally gave in and installed Candy Windows (XP Pro). Installed the game. It ran fine. You should try to install your favorite game on an XP system and
see if you have any luck running it. It seems that XP has the ability to run games that were designed for 95/98 only OS's....
Good Luck,

Hey ICMAN

Have you tried the omegadrivers? http://www.omegacorner.com/
The lastest ones are based on cat 3.6 but tweaked for game performance, not for benchmark like the original cat 3.6. It might fix your problems, but then again, it might not. Worth a try at least.

Oh yeah, read the readme...especially this:

"REMINDERS:
1- If you have the normal ATI drivers, uninstall the ATI Control Panel BEFORE
upgrading to these drivers, the drivers already have the CP integrated
and another CP may cause conflicts or other problems.
2- There is no need to uninstall ANY previous drivers (ATI or OMEGA) when
installing these, they will override any previous settings."

ICMAN,

Sorry about your problems, but there must be something about your configuration, hardware, BIOS settings or just maybe your 9700pro that is to blame. I have an AIW 8500DV and a 9500 pro running without any problems whatsoever. I had purchased a Sapphire 9000 pro and it was obviously damaged because it would not do anything above 2x AGP and wouldn't do fast writes. I RMA'd it and got the 9500 pro and it has been flawless. I personally have not had any driver issues with ATI, as well as many other people around here, so saying that ATI engineers are basically incompetent at writing drivers is a bit out of line.

?
Come on guys, they aren't that obscure!

ATI, Microsoft, Intel, Mac, Dell, Ebay :p

Looks like we hurt Shamrocks eyes. Get over it, this reality. You've got people all over the globe on the internet. Learn to deal, your not a moderator. Back on topic, your card was infact used if you did buy it over ebay. Have you tried running Prime95 or MemTest86?

That statement is invalid. For one simple reason, I personally bought a brand new monitor from ebay. And please don't argue that the monitor isn't new.

My friend, this is not the first time I buy from ebay. It is not a person who is trying to sell this card. It was a dealer from NJ that buys from Dell. Dell happened that had an excess amount of 9700pro and they wanted to get rid of it in bulks. That dealer from NJ bought the cards and will/is/was selling those cards on ebay. The card I received was OEM sealed. And, ebay isn't only for regular people who wants to sell their used stuff, ok? You can search carefully and you would know that people on ebay actually has retail shops. But ebay has more potential than a retail store in a street. Plus, how many people nowadays walk in a store to buy computer stuff?? ebay is a good solution for those people. It is not and ebay policy that you can only sell used stuff.

Let us know how that Ebay warranty/ tech support/ RMA works out for ya.

Shrink wrap machines aren't that expensive. I could buy a bunch of used cards, throw them in a white box, shrink wrap them, and tell people they were sealed OEM parts.

I did not experience any driver problems since the Catalyst drivers were introduced. But the rolling lines problem almost pushed me over the edge of sanity. Tried 9500 Pro and 9700 Pro and both of them had the same problem. RMA'ed them both and will be ordering Nvidia FX5800 (Non-Ultra) soon.
