driver caught on dashcam purposely splashing pedestrians

So how exactly did you determined that they deserved it??????
Did you make an assessment that there wasn't anyone who didn't deserve it?????

That's not actually a dash cam. How/why is he/she recording from the rear?

This is really a big deal? The last person doesn't even look upset.

EDIT: Ok while seeing it from the PC that person in the middle of the video got blasted, was brutal!

They all seem to come from the far east.
Bought mine on eBay [10/14.00 USD] shipping was free.
I use two in my truck, one facing front and one back
I give them away as gifts and so far I have bought approx 12.

Spend good money on the memory card [32GB] avoid over seas suppliers as they're hacked cards.
Always check the features such as night vision, sleep mode. recording
size, etc.

I've done this by accident......People on sidewalks should be careful when they walk.

nah i haven't looked into it enough to know what's a good choice. i'd like one as well and was considering using it as a christmas gift idea last year, but couldn't find one at the time that looked easy enough for me to install + cheap enough + good enough quality. i was looking on the cheap side though (50-100$) so with a slightly higher budget i'd expect there to be some good ones.

IANAL but seems that it could be categorized as reckless endangerment (swerving towards people in a moving vehicle) or criminal mischief (potentially damaging electronics or clothes).

crime or not, if you watch the video you should realize the dude was being a major a-hole. going out of his way to ruin random people's days multiple times in a couple minutes.

and if you don't think he's an a-hole, well...
 
Wow what an ass. Company truck too. Reflects poorly on the company.

I'm pretty sure there is in fact a law on this. I don't know what the fine is, and it would be kind of hard to enforce unless you can manage to get the license plate number on time when you are a victim, or guy with dash cam reports you.

Had it happen to me in my own driveway while I was trying to unblock a storm drain that was making water accumulate during the snow melt, I was pissed and came real close to throwing my pick axe at their car. I started to swing and realized there could potentially be kids in the back so decided to hold back. Probably better off as I probably would have ended up being the one that gets in trouble.
 
i can see it being fine if it's an accident, but if someone is purposely trying to do it? well that's a horse of a different color.
 
Is this a dick move? Yes, absolutely. Is this a big deal? I would say no.

In general, I don't understand why people get so butt-hurt about getting a little wet. I swear people drive around in parking lots for 30 minutes just to find a semi-close spot - because god forbid they get a little wet from the rain.... They might melt afterall.
 
I did this once, but not by swaying puposely towards the pavement. In fact, the puddle was on the road and i could not go around it because of other traffic.
There happened to walk people next to it. Was fun to see.
I myself when a pedestrian, always being cautious when spotting puddles on the road.
I once had to flip my umbrella really fast towards the road to prevent from being splashed.

But driving towards the pavement to seek out a puddle, that can be dangerous. If there is a serious hole in the road hidden in the puddle, the vehicle could get out of control and the driver can lose control over the steering wheel.
If you splash someone because of a puddle on the road, not a big deal. But deliberately seeking out puddles close to the pavement is not a good idea, on the contrary.

I was walking to a job interview once when I got drenched by an arsehole driver. That's just aside from the fact that puddles on the road, especially if they're from backed-up drains, are not exactly composed of the cleanest of water.

If you were just standing outside and some dickhead purposely (or even inadvertently) doused you with his vehicle, I am sure you'd be royally pissed, too.

Vehicular assault!! 😉

Point is, it's always a big deal to the person getting inundated with yummy, always pristine, road water. And . . . (didn't watch the vid) if you had it recorded and some jamoke had done it intentionally, you, too, might well consider sharing that recording, you know?
