Most have problems giving up their CD burners for some reason. I see many people with both. The reasoning I get is they dont want to burn out thier dvd writer?

DVD burners are around 40-50.00 by the time you burn it out they will be free after rebate.

The reason I kept both is that my Lite-On CD Burner is very fast at ripping/burning audio CD's, much faster than my Plextor DVD burner. The Plextor, OTOH, is one of the fastest DVD rippers out there, plus, it's tough to burn a DVD with a CD writer. Besides, I had a free IDE port, so what should I have done? Give it away, or let it sit on a shelf and collect dust? My kids PC already has a DVD-ROM and a CD Burner, so they sure didn't need it. :p

Thats logic that makes sense. Not wanting to wear out the dvd burner writing CD's doesnt make sense to me.
