drive thru limit

I always walk in with lunch. When I have a van full of 3 or 4 kids in car seats I am not going to dismount to take them in. Drive-Thru it is with chicken nuggets all around. I do get the fruit cup and Apple juice options tho.

Come on, you're sitting in your car. You've got the heater or a/c on, your stereo going, you don't even have to waddle your butt into the restaurant to order, can't you wait 5 minutes?

They really should limit the number of orders. Maybe I'm mistaken, but drive-thrus are made for people on-the-go, who're in somewhat of a hurry and would rather eat in the car then walking in to buy. And people who buy large quantities to bring home/office is abusing the system.

For that and other reasons, I find drive-thru to be much more time consuming then just walking in. Especially during lunch / dinner hours, instead of waiting 30 minutes in your car, walk in, eat, walk out in, usually only takes me about 20-25 minutes.

I feel the same way, I almost always go in.

For me that always applies to In-n-Out drive thru where the wait is like 30 minutes.

Try Jack-In The Box around Tempe, AZ around midnight, especially after a Friday or Saturday night of drinking. It took so long to get our food that the person in front of us fell asleep on the wheel, and honking wouldn't wake him up. He looked pretty freaked out when someone had to knock on his window to wake him.

You're right that if the line is long at the drive-through it's usually faster to go in.

Unfortunately around here there are a lot of students from the local high school who walk to restaurants for lunch, so when I go inside at lunchtime it's a madhouse.

Usually when I go inside I take note of which car was last in line, then on my way out the door I check and see if I got out faster and I point and laugh.

Honestly, if you're waiting extensively behind people with large orders, the fast food place is not operating correctly. The cars should pull off to the side or to a designated area after paying and coming up to the second window and it should be fulfilled while taking and cooking other orders.

Many of the places do that around here, especially during lunch hour. Last time I went to Carl's Jr. and ordered for 4 people, they took the order then asked me to pull off to the parking spot in the front. When they were done, a guy brought me the food.
