Cop was wrong. But I don't think it was worth $60,000 of tax payers money.

I think background checks and training are useful in preventing some problems. However, people change. The fact that you passed a background check and training 20 years ago doesn't mean you are safe today. Stresses come and go. Who knows what was going on in his life in the few months before this incident?Originally posted by: ValkyrieofHouston
Is all of this training just a waste of tax payer money? Someone enlighten me here....

Stealing 10$ of his change. Which she didn't.
That tape should have been suffucient to get that guy off the streets. He pepper sprays somebody over a mistake he made, while some real crime goes unattended to. brilliant.
We call this civil suit. May the force be with her in her persuit of financial apology.
So I guess technically she could sue the heck out of the officer on a civil suit then... however, I didn't think cops made more than 40 to 60K a year. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He should have been sprayed by her with a can of OC, then fired and prevented from ever holding a government job (or any position of authority) ever again.

i think it could have been handled better if she got a lesser sum of money and the cop gets fired or suspended with out pay (perhaps jail time)
but as for the register, i believe the manager said that there were no 20's in the register at all

i think the manager should have done a better job of sticking up for her...especially if he saw that there were no 20s

I have a feeling she would not have accepted a simple apology.
