My IDE is corrupted, I bought a new sata but now I like to run a data recovery program.
How do I get the ide to read on my computer without it trying to boot? My wife's computer was able to read the drive so I think I can Get a few files off of it.

I am running an Asus 939 mb with windows XP

Did you try any repairs to the OS before you bought the SATA HD?
If you wife's PC can read the data, it's probably just picked up a little OS corruption, which should be totally fixable.

XP could not find the drive. My wifes system can see it but it is corrupt. I was hoping to run the data recovery on my system but I do not think I have the proper settings or if I can slave an ide to a sata master.

Corrupted in what way? If it can be read on your wife's machine, then copy the data you need off of it. If it can't then I would get testdisk (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk), and run it on your wifes computer with your drive, then get as much of the data off ASAP.
