Hi all!
As of a couple of days ago, if I try to access my spare drive from the desktop, it will lock up my PC for several minutes. However, I can access files indirectly, ie through search, etc.
Any idea whats going on?
Thanks!

Would really appreciate help on this.
The screen will half open then freeze, and several minutes later Explorer will tell me there is an error and needs to close. Is my drive failing?

Yeah, I'd say it is. Run Scandisk and see if it finds anything obvious.

Check for viruses as well. Run Malwarebyte's and SUPERAntiSpyware. You could boot up a live CD like Knoppix and see if it still causes issues under another OS or if it's simply Windows.

Well I ran checkdisk at next startup, as it requested, and it found nothing. I also did a total full system scan using Microsoft Security Essentials, also nothing.
I can access the drive, just not the folder I want. This is my 320GB spare data drive. The folder I want to access has all my downloads in it, and I use it for downloading. Is there a connection? Every time I try to access that folder, it will lock up and Explorer will "encountered a problem". This drive is the newest of all of my drives, but have been using it for a year or 2.
Any ideas?

EDIT: Think I got it licked. On a hunch, I used CCleaner to uninstall the BF BC 2 demo, and after doing that I could access the folder. Gotta run, will check again later, but looks like that was it. Thanks for your help anyway!
