Drive C is corrupted...(win2k setup error)

I'm trying to install Win2k on my new system. It gives me a 'drive C is corrupted and setup cannot continue' each time.

I am using a Western Digital Caviar 80GB drive and I am trying to figure out if it's bad or not. I did the diagnostic tests and they came out fine (except the write zero's test -- didn't have time for that). I used WD's DataLifeGuard program to create and format partitions (FAT32). I am trying to install the OS onto a 15GB partition. I tried both to leave it as a FAT32 partition and convert to NTFS, but no go.

I changed the cable, put in a different stick of RAM. What else should I try? Should I turn off ATA100 mode? plug to a different IDE connector? I would try the drive in another comp, but BIOS does not support such a large drive.

Vital specs:
TBird 1.33
gigabyte 7DXR
256MB Crucial DDR PC2100
WD Caviar 80GB EIDE (WD800BB)

That could be the core of the problem. Get a standard DOS boot floppy (Win98SE E Disk) and use good old reliable FDISK . . . create your two partitions and format C and D . . . C with /S. It should then boot to C when done.

Then setup W2K from there using their boot floppy w/CD ROM real mode driver.

It the problem persist, you could have a controller problem . . . then try the secondary IDE port.
