At 11:45 p.m. Saturday a 16-year-old boy was shot by a gunman on a bicycle in the 4100 block of West North Avenue, police said.

Not so surprising since these are teenagers doing the shootings. We're you expecting them to be riding in a Cutlass Supreme? I doubt this will become any more of a thing than it already is. Actually, the only times I've heard about these bicycle shootings were from the two links you just posted. I don't think I have to worry about kids on bikes in Detroit when I visit just yet.

This is the fallout of the cash for clunkers scam by the government. It completely removed a young kid's ability to own a crappy car.

At least 33 people were shot — six of them fatally — Saturday afternoon through Father's Day Sunday, stretching from 94th Street and Loomis Avenue on the South Side up to about North Avenue and North Pulaski Road on the Northwest Side, according to authorities. The youngest person who was killed during one of the bloodiest weekends in Chicago this year was 16.

Shootings from Friday afternoon into Saturday left another 13 people shot, 1 fatally. The combined tally resulted in 46 people shot, and seven killed this weekend. Last year at about the same time, there were 53 people shot, nine fatally in one weekend.

sure beats running on foot if you don't have a car. Also stealing bikes is easy and if you throw them in the river after the fact they're not going to find them, unlike a car which you can't just throw over a fence.

I can see why the non-urban classes allow the inner city is awash with blood.
