There's a picture of it here:
http://pics.bbzzdd.com/users/rod_1986/E2C-disassembled.jpg

All this device does is measure the temp inside the computer (where ever i attach the temp sensors to), and if it gets hot it turns on it's own fans, and if it gets too hot, it sounds an alarm. It also lets me see the temps on the LCD display,

Now, I know that 40mm fans sorta suck, as they're noisey and dont move alot of air. But these ones have a grill in front of them, a filter behind that, and another grill kind of thing (circled in red) behind that.

This second grill (the one i've circled) wont be doing anything except making more noise and reducing the airflow, will it. I'm thinking about cutting it out, I just wanted your opinions first.

Thanks
RoD

BtW: I dissassembled it so that i can spray-paint it black, so it matches my black case and black DVD-drives.

I'd have to see your fans to be sure, but it looks like that second grill is sitting in the dead spot of the fan anyway, so it isn't impeding your airflow all that much. As for it making more noise, I don't know... You could always try it and see what happens though, and keep some super glue handy...

Yeah, you can really see it on any of those photos, but your fairly close. The second grill sticks out a few millimeters on each side past the dead spot in the middle of the fan. Doesn't seem like much, but they are only 40mm fans to begin with.

I dunno. They're only gonna get turned on if my system starts over heating anyway. At the moment, the hottest it gets is 41C at 100% load (according to ASUS PCProbe), with the room temp around 20C. That's fairly good isn't it?

One more question: Where should i place the temp sensors? There are only two, so one will go on my CPU, but where should I put the other one? What about my HDD/NB/VC?...

Also, is it okay to put a temp sensor underneath a HSF. On the instruction sheet that came with the kit, it says to put it between the CPU and heatsink!? Even though they're almost perfectly flat, I didn't think this would work too well. But I dunno, I've never tried.

Do not put it between the cpu and hs.

Stick it between the fins near the center of the hs, I use a dab of thermal goop and the cover it with a small piece of cotton or paper to keep air off it and hold it in place.

Not too sure how much that will cool your rig down, maybe mount it in front of a HD and tape the sensor on that to keep it cool?

What case is it going in and where are you going to mount it?

Id leave the back grill off too.
