If you wait till March, April or May, then you can purchase the Nexus One on Verizon.
I have both right now and I'm torn on which one I'd rather keep. On one hand you have the Nexus One which is a blazing fast phone. It's very noticeable that it's faster than the Droid. The caveat is that you're on T-Mobile which can be hit or miss depending on where you use the phone (this can apply to any carrier though).
For what it's worth, I don't like the Droid's form factor and I've never been a fan of physical keyboards. Verizon's network is much more broad than T-Mobile's but you're definitely gonna pay for that privilege.
I bought both of these phones out right since I loathe contracts and one has to go so I can put $500 back in my pocket. I'm just not sure which one.![]()
I'm beginning to wonder if the Nexus One is truly so much faster than the Droid, of if it's a matter of Android 2.1 versus Android 2.0.1.
Hell 2.0.1 made the Droid snappier than 2.0, and based on the hardware graphics acceleration potential of the Droid, the OS just seems to have some unoptimized animation code.
Of course we really just have to wait for 2.1 to arrive on the Droid, with correct hardware support/optimization from Motorola. I do think that will indeed be the case though.
Yes, Snapdragon is fast, but the Droid's SOC is no slouch.
2.1 is supposed to hit January 22nd from what the droid forums say. It will have some good improvements and should be faster.
But, honestly, I don't see how anyone could think the Droid is slow? I got mine a week ago and it's freaking AWESOME. I'm coming from an HTC Touch Pro. That thing was such a POS and I'm so glad I got a droid.
Well I've gone back to the Droid for the time being. This was mostly due to T-Mobile's coverage. I wanted to see if it had improved, and it did but it's just not quite there yet.
Guess my next stop will more than likely be the Palm Pre Plus when it's out in a week or so.

I hope there are pretty damn sweet phones released come March as that's when I can upgrade. I was all set on getting the next best Android phone to be released on the VZW network, but the Nexus One doesn't come out for it until.. April or May probably, and I don't think an existing customer will be able to purchase it at a reduced price so I'm left waiting for another great Android phone. But once the Palm Pre Plus was released, I remembered I was extremely interested in that phone when it first came out, but I thought it was just going to sail away, but now, I'm extremely interested again.
Let me know how you like the Droid compared to the Palm Pre. Basically, all I'm looking for is, how you like the Android OS compared to WebOS.

Sure thing. Since I apparently like to blow all my money on cell phones lately (lol), I'm interested in seeing how webOS really is. From what I've heard people really do love it it's just the hardware that's lacking more or less. The jump from the iPhone OS to Android was pretty amazing mostly due to true multitasking. I'm expecting similar results with Android to webOS. Can't wait.
I'm going to make an unpopular prediction...
Google will walk away from the Nexus One, and give it back to HTC.
PCMag just posted a review. According to the benchmarks they could run, the Nexus One really is very fast. I don't think the differences can all be attributed to Android 2.1. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2358098,00.aspI'm beginning to wonder if the Nexus One is truly so much faster than the Droid, of if it's a matter of Android 2.1 versus Android 2.0.1.
Do any of these newer smartphones lag when they have little to no service? I have a Palm Centro with Verizon and sometimes when I have no service the phone becomes unusable.
