So I'm thinking of drinking carbonated water to mix things up a little.

Is this bad for you? So far google has returned inconclusive, contradictory results.

Yeah I keep hearing its bad for different reasons and then those reasons get debunked.

I gave up soda pop and seltzer water a while ago. It may not be bad but it cant be good so its better to be safe.

Carbonated water is a negligible cause of dental erosion; also known as acid erosion. While the dissolution potential of sparkling water is greater than still water, levels remain low: by comparison, carbonated soft drinks cause tooth decay at a rate of several hundred times that of regular sparkling water. De-gassing of carbonated water reduces its dissolution potential, but the total levels are still relatively low, suggesting that the addition of sugar into water, not its carbonation, is the main cause of tooth decay.[7]
Intake of carbonated beverages has not been associated with increased bone fracture risk in observational studies, and the net effect of carbonated beverage constituents on the amount of calcium in the body is negligible,[8] leaving carbonated water as harmless as regular water.[citation needed] The phosphoric acid present in many soft drinks is what reduces bone density and increases bone fracture risk.
Carbonated water eases the symptoms of indigestion (dyspepsia) and constipation, according to a study in the European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.[9]
A 2004 article in the Journal of Nutrition found that fizzy waters with higher sodium levels reduced cholesterol levels and the risk of cardiovascular problems in postmenopausal women.

Perrier is just fine for me. Regular carbonated water (Vintage, Schwepps) comes off as a bit "harsh". Avoid the carbonated waters that have sodium in them. Your diet probably already has tons of sodium in it, no point in adding more.

The flavored ones are OK as well. Schwepps makes a great black cherry.

Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with carbonated water.

Carbonated soft drinks are awful; loaded with sugar and sodium. And, they taste like sugar flavored enima water; from an enima given to a donkey suffering from some sort of colon disease.

Carbonation gives me gas and makes me fart. Therefore it is clearly bad...

It tastes disgusting IMO. Never really got used to the fizzy feeling in soft drinks, and even though good soda water usually has a finer taste and less fizziness, I still can't stand it. Still FTW.

I love drinking carbonated water on hot summer days. Not so much in the winter. It's also really good mixed with orange juice or lemonade, to cut down on the sweetness of those drinks.

That brown colored carbonated water that has lots of sugar in it, its best served 1:1 with crown royal.

If you do not have any crown, some jim, jack or canadian mist will do.
