because it's cheaper, i can drink however much when i want, and i like the taste of a rum and coke?

you know, a lot of people do things by themselves because they *enjoy* it. i know that may be a hard concept to grasp.... ;)

This is like asking why someone drinks water or soda with a meal at home by themselves.

not exactly.
if strictly from a taste perspective, then yes.
but there's an adverse affect from alcohol (getting hammered) that is not present in water or soda.

I could drink a whole bottle of wine and it wouldn't affect me.

Most people aren't going to get hammered with one or two servings.

i don't drink alone, but i toke alone.

i guess there's really no difference.

both the solo drinker and the solo toker are looking to alter their state of mind, right?

i guess the drinker isn't breaking the law though. *shrug*

I used to do that alone too, and yeah IMO it's the same thing really. Some people just aren't comfortable with that I guess.

Doing so is practically a necessity for WoW raiding... you ought to know that! Like pre-TBC, my brother would always tell me, "I don't think I ever tanked sober." Personally, once shit hits the fan, I hit the fridge :p.

Beer is delicious!
I would rather drink 1 beer 5 days per week than 5 beers 1 day per week.

Well, I do both. I just like being in a different state of mind, at the end of the day ... its always fun to drink a few and toke before bed... I look forward those couple of hours all day.

if i'm having a steak dinner at home with the gf, we'll bust out a bottle of red wine, but if i ate the same dinner alone, i wouldn't bother.

i drink to loosen up at parties with friends since i'm a different beast when inebriated. getting drunk alone is just... i dunno, pointless IMO.

so who drinks alone?

who says you have to drink to get drunk? thats the mentality of kiddies

I like to have a beer or two when Im by myself. Sometimes, after work, I'll watch tv for an hour or so and have a beer. It has nothing to do with getting drunk; I just want to relax

Who the hell only drinks to get plastered? Are you in high school or something? Why would anyone WANT to get plastered on a regular basis?

Personally, I drink alcohol for the taste rather than the drunkenness. So, it doesn't matter if I am alone, I'll drink if that's what my palette desires.

Nothing like a glass of Lagavulin at the end of a gloomy cold day.

If I wanted to get "hammered" alone, I'd Toke. Pot's affect is so much different that being alone doesn't really matter.

Drinking is a social thing for me, so no I don't find enjoyment in drinking alone. Besides, alcohol costs money and I'm cheap. xD

Tim

I voted drink alone all the time.

I'm a waste of life, what else can I say?

I like to drink...those that have to drink to be able to function at a party have the issues.

Weed is more of a drug to enjoy alone, not alcohol. I've never drank alone but smoke alone when all of my friends are busy. Another thing, the only good environment for being drunk is at a party, whereas weed is also enjoyable at home.

Having a drink != getting drunk. It seems many people here do not understand this.

I can have 3 beers and not feel even the slightest thing, though I rarely have more than 2 when I am on my own.
