Possibly interesting that the most restrictive rules cluster around the desert zones, the more liberal are in the moderately-warm wine-producing areas, and then slightly more restrictive again in the colder grain-alcohol countries. Or I might be reading too much into it.
There's no problem getting beer overseas, just in the U.S.
It really comes down to the place and time when you grew up. When I was a kid, the drinking age was 21 but, if you could see over the edge of the bar, you could order a beer.
Wow, it's illegal in Afghanistan? That's gotta suck for our soldiers who would love a beer. Then, they return to the states after risking their lives, and STILL can't legally purchase alcohol (or even consume it in many states.)
