Drill Recommendations

[SVT Cobra]

I am installing a new microwave bracket and I realized I lost my old drill when I moved, so I need to buy a new one. I just need something somewhat reasonably priced that I can get from Home Depot that will work for small household jobs. I will probably use it once a month at most. What brand(s) do you recommend? Anything to stay away from? I will be getting a cord one as I hate the battery powered ones as they either lose their charge too quick or are not powerful enough.

For small household jobs like this, I'd reccomend a cordless also. They've come a long way.

But you pretty much won't go wrong with anything not a craftsman or skil.

if you're going to just use it once a month, just get a cheap black and decker from target. should only cost you about $30 for a decent corded drill.

I posted what the best household choice is even though he said he wanted one with a cord. Considering ease of use in a household and my experience - cordless is the way to go for the long run if you're going to use it a lot over years and years.

Price wise:

9v ~ $100
18v ~ 180

Not sure on the charger price. Mine was a gift. BTW, you'd probably be ok with the 1 hour charger that comes with the 18v. I recommend that one.

Go for a Craftsman Drill that is part of the 19.2V series, decently priced, check it out at your local sears. I've had mine for a year or so and I love it!

Sears link with right angle drill, can't seem to find the drill alone anymore, they have other packages with other stuff, this was just the cheapest.

It has a one hour charger too, which is quick enough for me!

Thanks a lot everyone for your responces, I will let you know what I bought after I get back home. I will see what they have when I get there and will remember your suggestions. I will probably go cordless then since most recommend it. I appreciate your help. 🙂

Be cheap like me. I and my neighbors, hate it when the air compressor is run at night, so
I bought Harbor Freight 3/8"corded #03670 for <$25. It's slim and can get into tight spaces. Buy a heat gun #35576 while your at it for <$12.

PM Fullmetal Chocobo to ask how he likes this drill motor. I'm an old mechanic and these two items are not junk,imnsho.
