A TiN-coated bit becomes a regular bit when the coating is worn or ground off. The quality of the steel underneath can be high or low, just as it can be with a non-coated bit.

Look on McMaster-Carr to see what available options are.

Go big or go home. OP, up your game and go with a PDC bit. It has the strength to tackle any grade of steel
